From the former Evansville, Indianapolis & Terre Haute trailing into the former PRR from the south, and the Danville Secondary (former Big Four St. Louis line) trailing in from the west at CP 72 (MP 72.0), the line turns east, taking up the routing of the former Big Four line, Two Main Tracks, CTC, maximum speed 70 mph for intermodal trains, 50 mph for other freight trains, and 40 mph for general merchandise trains, but local restriction 25 mph, past the location of the erstwhile former Big Four station, and turning north-northeast, where the erstwhile PRR line continues east, past Haley (MP 70.5), where the former C&EI Evansville line makes an angled flat crossing, where the restriction rises to 50/40/40, Duane Yard (MP 69.2) on the south side of the line, and the 3,750 ft. siding at CP 68/Preston (MP 68.6), where there is a connector in the south quadrant (10 mph on the connector), with both west and east-facing connections, and a flat crossing with the former Milwaukee Road, and was once a flat crossing with an erstwhile C&EI line from the north.
The line turns east at Markells, with a 60 mph speed restriction on the curve at MP 66, past Forest, east-northeast, past detectors at "Burnett" (MP 64.0), Burnett, where there was once a flat crossing with an erstwhile C&EI line, a 60 mph speed restriction on curves between MP 63.9 and MP 63.5, Lone Star Coal, Fontanet, Cobb, where there was once a flat crossing with an erstwhile C&EI line, and Coal Bluff, turning just north of due east, past crossovers at CP 56/Perth (MP 56.0), Simpson Spur, Carbon, where there was once a flat crossing with the Central Indiana Railway, Lena, and Alma, turning north-northeast and then east past detectors at "Fern" (MP 46.5) and Fern, and east-northeast again, to Greencastle, where there is a connector in the northwest quadrant and a bridge over the former Monon Crawfordsville to Louisville line (now truncated not far south of here).
The line turns just north of due east, past crossovers and the 3,650 ft. siding at CP 39 (MP 39.3), Fillmore, detectors at "Reno" (MP 28.0), Reno, crossovers at CP 24/Hadley (MP 23.9), Nash, Danville, and dragging equipment detectors at "Danville" (MP 19.4), where it turns east, past CP Gale (MP 14.8) on Track 1, crossovers at CP AN (MP 12.5), west end of the Avon or Big Four Yard, on both sides of the line, where single track, CTC, starts, the maximum speed drops to 50/40/40, and there is a 15,000 ft. siding, a fuel rack at MP 10.3, with a 30 mph speed restriction passing the fuel rack, and crossovers at CP MY (MP 9.4), east end of the yard, where the siding ends, 2MT resume, the maximum speed rises to 40 mph, and there are northwest and southwest quadrant connectors with the Crawfordsville Branch bridging overhead.
