Centralia to Huntingburg

From the junction with the double track, Yard Limits, former CB&Q southern Illinois coal line at BN Junction (MP 64.4/MP 121.0), the south end of the BN Centralia yard, where a 10 mph speed restriction starts, on the BN line used jointly, heading just west of due south, past the start of Two Main Tracks, CTC at MP 121.3, the end of CTC and start of single track, Yard Limits, and the very acute-angled junction with the Illinois Central main line at Long Crossover (MP 121.6), where the IC Centralia depot is on the east side of the tracks, the former junction with the erstwhile Missouri-Illinois (later part of the MoPac), the very acute-angled flat crossing with the IC main line at IC Xing (MP 122.3), after which the joint line is finally on the east side of the IC main line, and the junction where the former Southern leaves the joint trackage with the former CB&Q (heading south-southeast) at Southern (Railway) Junction (MP 122.6/MP 66.2), where Yard Limits end the former turns away east-southeast, Track Warrant Control, Automatic Block Signals, maximum speed 50 mph.

There is a 20 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 66.2 to MP 66.4, a 35 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 66.4 to MP 66.6, a 40 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 66.6 to MP 67.2, a 45 mph speed restriction from MP 67.2 to MP 67.7, after which the full line speed prevails, a detector at MP 71.3, a turn southeast, a spur at Walnut Hill (MP 72.1), a turn east-southeast again, a 45 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 77.9 to MP 78.2 as the line turns south, past a spur at Dix (MP 78.2), a turn south-southeast past a detector at MP 81.0, a 45 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 81.3 to MP 82.6, and Idlewood, a turn just east of due south, the 10,687 ft. south side siding (15 mph on the siding) at Mt. Vernon (MP 84.1 to MP 86.1), with a 45 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 85.6 to MP 87.3.

The line turns just north of due east, past the flat crossing (25 mph on the crossing, and on the curve from MP 87.3 to MP 88.2) with the former C&EI at UP Xing (MP 87.7), past a 45 mph speed restriction from MP 88.2 to MP 89.2, a turn just south of due east and then just north of due east again, Marlow (MP 93.1), where the maximum speed is back to 50 mph and a detector at MP 93.2, a spur at Bluford (MP 95.6), a bridge over the Illinois Central Bluford Cutoff, a 45 mph speed restriction from MP 96.8 to MP 97.1, a spur at Keenes (MP 101.8), a detector at MP 103.6, and a spur at Wayne City (MP 104.7), a turn more to the northeast and then east, a spur at Sims (MP 107.8), the 12,722 ft. south side siding (20 mph on the siding) at Moon (MP 111.7), a turn just north of due east, Boyleston, a detector at MP 116.0, a 45 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 116.6 to MP 116.8, and a spur at Fairfield (MP 117.6), where there was once a flat crossing with an erstwhile former B&O line, wehre the line turns east-southeast and then just south of due east, past Merriam.

There is a 10,958 ft. north side siding (20 mph on the siding) at Golden Gate (MP 126.1), Ellery, a turn east-southeast and then east-northeast, a detector at MP 131.0, a 45 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 134.1 to MP 134.6 as the line turns just south of due east past Albion (MP 134.4) and then east-northeast to the flat crossing (35 mph on the crossing) with the Wabash & Ohio Railroad at Browns (MP 138.3), where it turns east, past the 10,468 ft. south side siding (15 mph on the siding) at Simpson (MP 140.7), Bellmont, where it turns east-northeast, a detector at MP 143.8, Maud, a turn just north of due east, Lee (MP 148.9), a 35 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 149.9 to MP 151.0 as the line turns south-southeast, at the junction (and former flat crossing with a line continuing north) with a former Big Four line, now serving only the Wabash Mine and the Carol Power Plant, at CB Junction (MP 150.1) and Mount Carmel (MP 150.9), a 40 mph speed restriction on the Wabash River Bridge, from MP 151.0 tp MP 151.9, taking the line from Illinois into Indiana.

The line turns east-southeast, past East Mount Carmel, Lyle, a detector at MP 157.8, Beck, where the line turns just north of due east, past the start of Yard Limits at MP 159.8, and turning south-southeast, with a 45 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 160.7 to MP 161.8 and a 35 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 161.8 to MP 162.3, past a connector on the east side to the former C&EI at Gibson (MP 162.2), where a 7,510 ft. south (west) side siding starts, the acute-angled flat crossing (15 mph on the crossing and on curves from MP 162.3 to MP 162.7) with the former C&EI at CSXT Crossing (MP 162.4), turning south and then just south of due east, with a 45 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 162.7 to MP 164.6, past Princeton (MP 162.8), a turn southeast and then east, with a 40 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 164.6 to MP 164.9, past the end of the siding at East Junction (MP 164.8), a 45 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 164.9 to MP 165.4, a turn southeast past the end of Yard Limits at MP 166.0, Douglas, and a detector at MP 166.2.

There is a turn just north of due east, past Francisco (MP 169.4), a turn east with a 45 mph speed restriction on curves between MP 171.5 and MP 171.7 and a 45 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 172.5 to MP 172.7, turning east-northeast past the angled flat crossing (25 mph on the crossing) with the Indiana Southern (former Big Four) at Oakland City (MP 175.1) and Oakland City Junction (MP 176.6), where there is a connector from the Indiana Southern, to the southwest, and a connection with the Algers, Winslow and Western (serving Old Ben Mine #1 and #2) on the south side, and the line turns northeast, past a detector at MP 178.3, a turn east at a bridge over the AWW, with a northeast quadrant connector at the 10,505 ft. south side siding at Ayrshire (MP 181.5), with a 45 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 181.5 to MP 181.7.

The line passes Winslow (MP 183.3), and turns curvily east-southeast, with a 40 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 186.4 to MP 187.7, past Velpen, a detector at MP 190.6, the start of Yard Limits at MP 197.0, a 30 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 198.5 to MP 199.6, the junction with the former Southern line to French Lick (now truncated at Dubois) on the north side, the former Southern line to Evansville (and other places) on the south side and 12,463 ft. north side siding at Huntingburg (MP 199.1).
