Springfield to Decatur

From the junction at Iles (MP 187.3/416.2), where there is a 40 mph speed restriction, the former Wabash once crossed on the flat, coming from the west-southwest (that original routing), and today's line turns away northeast, still single track, TC, maximum speed 60 mph, turning north on 10th Street, past the yard at Springfield (MP 414.7), the erstwhile Wabash station in Springfield, and the former flat crossing with the erstwhile Chicago, Springfield & St. Louis at 10th & Madison (MP 414.0), turning east-northeast past a flat crossing with the IC (former Chicago & Illinois Midland) at C&IM Crossing (MP 412.9), a former flat crossing with an erstwhile Chicago & Alton line, Starnes (MP 411.2), where a spur heads away north, there was once a flat crossing with the erstwhile Illinois Terminal, an Illinois Central line makes an angled flat crossing, and another erstwhile Illinois Terminal line once came alongside to the south.

The line turns north at the erstwhile IT Miller location, away from the IT routing, northeast past Riverton (MP 407.3) and a detector at MP 407.2, and east past the 10,702 ft. siding at Dawson (MP 402.9), where the erstwhile routing of the Illinois Terminal comes alongside to the south again, Buffalo (MP 400.0), a spur at Lanesville (MP 396.8), an erstwhile spur north into the Illiopolis Army Ordnance Plant, a spur at Illiopolis (MP 391.1), a detector at MP 388.1, a spur at Niantic (MP 387.2), the 8,720 ft. siding at Harristown (MP 382.8), and Wyckles, before turning east-southeast and then east again.

There is a junction at Mosser (MP 376.5), where there is a 30 mph speed restriction, there was once a flat crossing with an erstwhile Illinois Terminal line, with a northeast quadrant connector, the former Wabash St. Louis line trails in from the south-southwest, Two Main Tracks, TC, and there are crossovers, and the line continues east, Two Main Tracks, TC, past the erstwhile Wabash passenger station, the flat crossing with the Illinois Central at Wabic (MP 375.6), with connectors in the northwest, northeast and southeast quadrants,. where the line becomes single track, TC, again, the former B&O Decatur Yard on the south side and a junction with the former B&O line to Indianapolis, as the former Wabash turns east-northeast, and the former Wabash car shops on the north side and a connection to an IC line on the south side, at the west end of the former Wabash Decatur Yard (MP 375.0).
