Collinwood to Ashtabula

There are crossovers at Quaker (MP 174.7), where the speed limit falls to 50-40 and the former Cleveland Short Line trails back in from the south, with the line from the flyover going directly into the large yard on both sides of the line at Collinwood (MP 173.8), which has at least six tracks on the north side at the west end, a multi-track (5 or 6) concrete coaling tower on the north side of the yard, still standing in 2008, a road bridge overhead, ten tracks in the yard on the north side, a fuel rack in the yard, Intermediate Signals at Nottingham (MP 172.x), a cantilever signal bridge, another fuel rack in the yard on the north side, a signal bridge as the yard tracks on the north side end, crossovers at CP 171 (MP 171.3), where the speed limits increase to 79-70-60-50 and a 21,700 ft. siding on the north side of the line begins with the yard tracks trailing into the long siding.

I-90 comes alongside to the north again, there are two bridges over roads, there are Intermediate Signals (MP 169.x), a grade crossing, Wickliffe (MP 168.3), where the former Nickel Plate line comes alongside to the south, a rail-served plant on the north side, a bridge over a road, a signal bridge, crossovers at CP 167 (MP 167.0), where that siding ends and a 24,000 ft. siding on the north side of the line begins (it appears as a continuous siding with crossovers to and from it), a road bridge overhead, detectors at East Lake (MP 165.0), Intermediate Signals (MP 164.x), a jog east and then back east-northeast again, additional track on the north side, then a wye on the north side, a grade crossing, dual head pole signals, crossovers at CP 162 (MP 162.1), where the siding ends, a bridge over drainage, a spur trailing in on the north side, Intermediate Signals at Mentor (MP 159.4), where the former NKP moves away, a road bridge overhead, a bridge over drainage, a grade crossing, Intermediate Signals (MP 167.x), a road bridge overhead, and a spur trailing in on the north side.

There are crossovers at CP 155 (MP 155.8), start of 8,650 ft. siding on both the north and south sides of the line, a wooded area, dual road bridges overhead, extra track on the north side of the north siding, a grade crossing, a five-track yard on the north side, a (temporarily?) closed grade crossing, CP 154 (MP 154.0), where those sidings end, a deck bridge over a river, a closed grade crossing (dug up), Painesville (MP 153.2), where a spur once turned away north and the B&O line to Fairport Harbor once crossed at grade, crossovers at CP 152 (MP 152.4), where the line turns just east of north and passes an NS line down to the lake shore at Perry, a grade crossing, detectors at MP 151.4, a grade crossing, a bridge over a stream, and a grade crossing. The line at this point seems to be bi-directionally signaled.

There are detectors at "Painesville" (MP 150.6), crossovers at CP 148 (MP 148.7), where speed limits fall to 70-55-50 and  a 14,400 ft. siding on the south side of the line starts, a grade crossing, Intermediate Signals on a signal bridge at Perry (MP 147.5), a grade crossing in open fields, CP 145 (MP 145.2), where the siding ends, speed limits revert to 79-70-60-50, and there are detectors named "Madison", Intermediate Signals at Madison (MP 142.5), where the line edges east-northeast again, two grade crossings, signals at CP 141 (MP 141.2), woods on the north side, a grade crossing, signals at CP 137 (MP 137.8), two grade crossings in town, Geneva (MP 137.1), a bridge over a stream, a new road bridge under construction (in 20080, a grade crossing, crossovers at CP 134 (MP 134.8), two grade crossings, detectors at Saybrook (MP 132.5), a grade crossing, an acute angle grade crossing, a signal bridge, crossovers at CP 130 (MP 130.3), a signal bridge, a signal bridge, a road bridge overhead, CP 128 (MP 128.2), where the Youngstown Line trails in from the south and then heads to Ashtabula Harbor on the lake shore to the north and the speed limit is 50-40 across the intersections (connectors in the northwest and southwest quadrants) and flat crossing, extra track on the north side, a bridge over a street, a bridge over a river, and the "passenger station" (no Amtrak service) at Ashtabula (MP 127.7).
