West Point to Montgomery

From the 4,845 ft. east-side siding, from NE Westpoint (MP 86.9), past the end of the Gabbetsville Block and start of the Westpoint Block at MP 87.0, a 40 mph speed restriction, from MP 87.0 to MP 89.5, after which full line speed prevails, a south-facing west-side spur at Wood Yard (MP 87.8), and a south-facing west-side spur at Storage Track (MP 88.1) to SE Westpoint (MP 88.8), the line heads southwest, across the border between Georgia and Alabama, single track, Track warrant Control-Direct Traffic Control, unsignaled, maximum speed 50 mph (but local 40 mph restriction to MP 89.5), past Lanett, where an erstwhile shortline once headed south, a north-facing west-side spur at Letica (MP 91.9), a south-facing east-side spur at Knauf (MP 92.2), a north-facing east-side spur at Knorboard (MP 92.2), Nelson, a detector at "Nelson" (MP 94.0), a 45 mph speed restriction, from MP 97.1 to MP 97.6, and a 2,695 ft. west-side siding, from NE Cusseta (MP 98.2), where the Westpoint Block ends and the Roanoke Block starts, to SE Cusseta (MP 98.8).

The line turns south, southwest, past Andrews and 'Rough and Ready', south-southwest, past the junction with the Pine Belt Southern, trailing in on the west side, at Roanoke Junction (MP 107.3), a south-facing east-side spur for International Paper (MP 107.4), a 45 mph speed restriction, from MP 107.7 to MP 109.4, a north-facing west-side spur for Piedmont Fertilizer (MP 108.6), and north-facing storage tracks on both sides (MP 109.4), turning west-southwest, with a 25 mph speed restriction, from MP 109.4 to MP 109.8, for the flat crossing, with north and east quadrant connectors, with the NS (former central of Georgia), and a 45 mph speed restriction, from MP 109.8 to MP 119.5, after which full line speed prevails, past the 6,600 ft. west-side siding (25 mph on the siding), from NE Opelika (MP 109.8), end of the Roanoke Block and start of the Opelika Block, to SE Opelika (MP 111.3), a north-facing west-side spur for West Point Pepper (MP 112.0), a detector at "Opelika" (MP 114.1), Auburn, and a south-facing east-side spur for Southmont Steel (MP 119.2), before turning south-southwest.

There is a 2,800 ft. west-side siding, from NE Notabulga (MP 128.9), where the Opelika Block ends and the Notabulga Block starts, to SE Notabulga (MP 129.5), a north-facing east-side spur at Langley Woodyard (MP 129.7), and a detector at "Chehaw" (MP 134.0), before the line turns just south of due east, past the north-facing east-side Chehaw House Track (MP 135.5), the 3,520 ft. west-side siding, from NE Chehaw (MP 135.6), where the Notabulga Block ends and the Chehaw Block begins, to SE Chehaw (MP 135.4), where an erstwhile shortline once ran south to Tuskegee, Cloughs, Franklin, the 10,000 ft. east-side siding (25 mph on the siding), from NE Macon (MP 138.6), past the end of the Chehaw Block and start of the Macon Block at MP 138.8, to SE Macon (MP 140.7), and baldwin Farms, turning southwest, past Hornady,, and just south of due west, past  the 4,125 ft. east-side siding, from NE Milstead (MP 146.9), where the Macon Block ends and the Milstead Block begins, past the north-facing west-side House Track (MP 147.5) to SE Milstead (MP 147.7), where the erstwhile Birmingham & Southeastern once crossed.

The line now runs along the southerly edge of the Tallapoosa River valley, curving west-southwest at Goodwyns, past a wye on the west side at Martin Marietta (MP 151.6), the east-side Shorters Runaround Track, from MP 151.6 to MP 152.5, a detector at "Shorters" (MP 152.0), a north-facing east-side spur at Bama Rail (MP 152.5), a wye on the west side at Martin Marietta (MP 156.0), and Tysonville, west to the 9,955 ft. east-side siding (25 mph on the siding), from NE Mount Meigs (MP 158.4), where the Milstead Block ends and the Mount Meigs Block begins, past a spur for Railworks (MP 158.6), a north-facing east-side spur for Simcala (MP 158.7), and a north-facing east-side spur for Kershaw (MP 160.6), to SE Mount Meigs (MP 160.9), just north of due west, past a north-facing east-side spur at Montgomery Materials (MP 165.0), Cooks, and Madison Park, turning south-southwest at Boylston, past the end of the Mount Meigs Block, and start of Yard Limits and a 25 mph speed restriction to MP 175.5, at MP 171.8, north end of Chester Yard, initially a lead on the west side, but with yard tracks from MP 172.3 (two to the west, three to the east) to MP 174.4, and south, past a flat crossing with northeast, northwest and southwest quadrant connectors at MP 174.5, the junction with the M&M sub. at Coosa Street (MP 175.5), where the West Point Route trails in on the east side and Yard Limits end (and a former Seaboard Air Line line also trials in, further on the east side, as the line turns southwest to Montgomery Union Station.
