Amory to Jasper

From the junction where the Pensacola line splits off on the southwest side of the Birmingham line, at Amory (MP 611.2), where the Mississippi Railway Cooperative turns way on the north side, to head north to Fullton, and there is a connector between the two BNSF lines south of the junction, the line heads southeast, single track, CTC, maximum speed 60 mph, but local 20 mph restriction to MP 612.2, past a detector at MP 614.8, a 1% ruling grade in both directions, a detector at MP 617.1, turning east, curvily south-southeast, with a 55 mph speed restriction, from MP 619.5 to MP 620.0, and a 45 mph speed restriction, from MP 620.0 to MP 624.9, past the 8,411 ft. siding (10 mph on the turnouts and siding) at Judge (MP 620.3) and Quincy, curvily east, past a detector at MP 623.0, south-southeast, with a 1% ruling grade in both directions, past Greenwood Springs, and east, past a detector at MP 627.8 and the 6,564 ft. siding (10 mph on the turnouts and siding) at Gatman (MP 628.4).

The line crosses the border between Mississippi and Alabama, past a detector at MP 631.9, and a 1% ruling grade in both directions, turning curvily east-northeast, with a 55 mph speed restriction, from MP 634.3 to MP 634.9, past a 30-car dual-ended spur at Sulligent (MP 634.9), Crews, a detector at MP 638.4, the 7,586 ft. siding (10 mph on the turnouts and siding) at Beaverton (MP 641.2), a detector at MP 643.6, and a 1.25% upgrade, turning east, past a detector at MP 648.5 and a 25-car dual-ended spur at Guin (MP 648.5), southeast, with a 50 mph speed restriction, from MP 649.1 to MP 649.9 and a 40 mph speed restriction, from MP 649.9 to MP 650.2, past a detector at MP 651.5, northeast, with a 45 mph speed restriction, from MP 654.3 to MP 667.8, past the 8,653 ft. siding (10 mph on the turnouts and siding) at Winfield (MP 654.6), where an erstwhile branch to Brilliant once headed north, and curvily southeast.

There is a detector at MP 658., 2, an 18-car south-facing spur at Glen Allen (MP 660.2), a detector at MP 661.7, a 1.25% upgrade, and a 10-car north-facing spur at Bazemore (MP 663.0), before the line turns curvily east-northeast, past a detector at MP 666.9, a 40 mph speed restriction, from MP 667.8 to MP 668.3, a 45 mph speed restriction, from MP 668.3 to MP 688.7, and the 5,596 ft. siding (10 mph on the turnouts and siding) at Eldridge (MP 669.2), curvily east-southeast, past a detector at MP 671.8, a downgrade, Clarke, Kansas, an erstwhile wye on the south side for Galloway #11 Mine, the 8,158 ft. siding (20 mph on the turnouts and siding, for trains up to 100 tons/operable brake; 10 mph for heavier trains) at Carbon Hill (MP 675.1), Chickasaw, a detector at MP 678.1, and Pocahontas, on a 1.25% upgrade, amid a 1% downgrade.

The line turns curvily south-southeast, past the 7,595 ft. siding (10 mph on the turnouts and siding) at Townley (MP 682.2) and a detector at MP 683.3, and curvily east, past Hilliard, a detector at MP 688.2, a 1.25% upgrade, a 25 mph speed restriction, from MP 688.7 to MP 688.8, and a 45 mph speed restriction, from MP 688.8 to MP 692.4, and curvily northeast, with a 30 mph speed restriction, from MP 692.4 to MP 693.1 and a 45 mph speed restriction, from MP 693.1 to MP 699.3, to the flat crossing with the Norfolk Southern line from Sheffield to Birmingham (once jointly Illinois Central) at NS (MP 693.7), and the junction (north side connector) with that line at Jasper (MP 693.8), where the stub of an Alabama Central line heads north and the former IC jointedness moves from the NS to the BNSF line.
