Memphis to Amory

From Tennessee Yard (MP 496.4) on the northeast side of the line, the line heads southeast, single track, CTC, maximum speed 60 mph, but local 40 mph restriction to MP 498.0, past the south end of the yard at South TY (MP 497.9), Capeville, the border between Tennessee and Mississippi, a 1% upgrade, Mineral Wells (MP 500.0), the 25-car north-facing spur at Olive Branch (MP 503.2), a 1% ruling grade in both directions, and Miller, turning east-southeast, past the 10,590 ft. siding (20 mph on the turnouts and siding, for trains up to 100 tons/operable brake; 10 mph for heavier trains)  at Byhalia (MP 511.2), a 50 mph speed restriction, from MP 513.8 to MP 514.0, a detector at MP 514.5, Victoria, a detector at MP 519.3, Red Bank, a 1% ruling grade in both directions, a 45 mph speed restriction, from MP 520.1 to MP 528.1, Mahon, and a detector at MP 524.1, turning southeast, past the 8,875 ft. siding (20/10 on the turnouts and 10 mph on the siding) at Tours (MP 527.2), and south-southeast, with a 30 mph speed restriction, from MP 528.1 to MP 528.7, past the junction with a former Illinois Central line now operated by Mississippi Central, at Holly Springs (MP 528.3).

The line turns east and then just west of due south, with a 45 mph speed restriction, from MP 528.7 to MP 530.6, past a detector at MP 528.8, east-southeast, with a 50 mph speed restriction, from MP 530.6 to MP 534., past a detector at MP 530.7,  and Waites, south and then south-southeast, with a 45 mph speed restriction, from MP 534.6 to MP 535.6, and a 1% ruling grade in both directions, past a detector at MP 535.5, a 40 mph speed restriction, from MP 535.6 to MP 535.9, and a 45 mph speed restriction, from MP 535.9 to MP 538.1, after which full line speed prevails, past a detector at MP 540.0 and the 7,990 ft. siding (20/10 on the turnouts and siding) at Potts Camp (MP 541.0), east-southeast, past a detector at MP 545.1, Winborn, and a 1% upgrade, east, with a 50 mph speed restriction, from MP 550.4 to MP 550.6, past Hickory Flat and a detector at MP 551.1, south-southeast, past the 10,114 ft. siding (20/10 on the turnouts and 10 mph on the siding) at Myrtle (MP 552.1), and  southeast.

There is a detector at MP 557.4, a 1% ruling grade in both directions, a 30-car south-facing spur at Shari (MP 559.7), Glenfield, the 6,636 ft. siding (20/10 on the turnouts and siding) at Peck (MP 561.3), a 50 mph speed restriction, from MP 561.3 to MP 562.3, the flat crossing with the Mississippi & Tennessee (former Gulf, Mobile & Northern) at MT (MP 562.3), with a 45 mph speed restriction, from MP 562.3 to MP 574.0, and the junction (connector) with the M&T at New Albany (MP 563.0), and the line turns just east of due south, past a detector at MP 563.0, a 1% ruling grade in both directions, a turn east-southeast, a turn south, east-southeast past Waterville, south-southeast, past a detector at MP 569.2, east, past the 7,341 ft. siding (30 mph on the turnouts and siding) at Reese (MP 571.4), south-southeast, with a 50 mph speed restriction, from MP 574.0 to MP 575.7, past a detector at MP 574.7, Blue Springs, the 12-car north-facing spur at Sherman (MP 577.1), a 1% ruling grade in both directions, and a detector at MP 577.6.

The line edges southeast, past the 7,094 ft. siding (20/10 on the turnouts and 10 mph on the siding) at Belden (MP 582.4), a detector at MP 583.1, a 1% downgrade, a 45 mph speed restriction, from MP 586.4 to MP 587.4, a 20 mph speed restriction, from MP 587.4 to MP 588.6, the junction (north connector, on the east side) with the KCS (former Mobile & Ohio) at Tupelo (MP 587.5), a detector at MP 588.1, the acute-angled flat crossing with the Kansas City Southern line at KCS (MP 588.2), turning south-southeast, with a 1% downgrade, past the 8,135 ft. siding (20/10 on the turnouts and 10 mph on the siding) at Plantersville (MP 591.6), a detector at MP 594.7, a detector at MP 597.8, and the 18-car south-facing spur at Nettleton (MP 600.3), and southeast, past the 6,650 ft. siding (20/10 on the turnouts and 10 mph on the siding) at Arjay (MP 602.7), a detector at MP 603.4, Bigbee, the bridge over the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway (here on the routing of the Tombigbee River), a detector at MP 608.4, a 20 mph speed restriction, from MP 610.6 to MP 612.2, and the junction where the Pensacola line splits off on the southwest side of the Birmingham line, at Amory (MP 611.2), where the Mississippi Railway Cooperative turns way on the north side, to head north to Fullton, and there is a connector between the two BNSF lines south of the junction.
