Kamloops to Redpass

At Kamloops (MP 139.4), the single track line turns north-northeast as a connector from the CP line trails in from the south, continuing past Chapman (MP 137.4), where CTC begins, Batchelor (MP 135.8), where two tracks begin, crossovers at Mackenzie (MP 134.3), Vinsulla (MP 123.7), where single track resumes, a detector at MP 120.8, the 7,750 ft siding at McLure (MP 115.8), where the line turns northeast, the 6,240 ft. siding at Exlou (MP 108.2), a turn back to the north, the 6,260 ft. siding at Barriere (MP 104.4), the 6,390 ft. siding at Chinook Cove (MP 98.1), a detector at MP 94.4, the 6,060 ft. siding at Chu Chua (MP 90.9), a turn north-northeast, the 6,030 ft. siding at Boulder (MP 83.0), the 7,950 ft. siding at Blackpool (MP 73.8), a detector at MP 71.1, Clearwater (MP 67.7), where the line crosses the river and turns east-southeast, following the river on its north side, the 6,290 ft. siding at Birch Island (MP 61.6), the 6,330 ft. siding at Vavenby (MP 53.0), where it turns east-northeast and then north, the 6,247 ft. siding at Irvine (MP 47.1), where it turns east, still following the north bank of the river, a detector at MP 45.8, the 6,030 ft. siding at Wabron (MP 41.2), where it begins a gradual curve to the north-northeast, the 6,610 ft. siding at McMurphy (MP 34.5), where it turns northeast, Avola West (MP 26.3), where two tracks begin and the line turns north, Avola East (MP 22.2), where single track resumes, a 600 ft. slide fence at MP 20.0, a 450 ft. slide fence at MP 19.23, a 1,150 ft. slide fence on the west side (rocky cliff) at MP 17.50, a detector at MP 17.0 ("Clearwater 17"), Messiter West (MP 16.0), where two tracks begin again, Intermediate Signals at MP 14.5, MP 14, extra track on the west side, Messiter East (MP 13.3), where single track resumes, MP 13, Intermediate Signals at MP 12.1, a bridge over a stream, MP 11, Intermediate Signals at MP 10.x, a bridge over a stream, extra track on the west side at Woldfenden (MP 8.0), where two tracks begin again, with speed limits 45-35, a detector at 'Clearwater 4", a road alongside to the west, Intermediate Signals at MP 4.x, Ewasiuk (MP 2.5), where the line turns north-northeast, Blue River West (MP 1.2), where single track resumes, with a spur trailing in on the west side, speed limit 45 mph and a signal bridge overhead, and Blue River (MP 0.0/132.3), where there is a yard (six tracks at the southwest end, four tracks at the northeast end) and the line turns northeast.

The line continues past a street alongside to the west, Blue River East (MP 131.7), a bridge over a stream, a bridge over a river between MP 123.2 and 123.1, the west end at MP 122.8 of a 6,040 ft. siding on the south/east side at Thunder River (MP 122.4), east end at MP 121.4, where the line bridges to the east side of the river and turns north-northeast, still following the river, past a dirt road grade crossing, a detector at MP 120.2, the 6,930 ft. siding at Pyramid (MP 114.2), east end MP 113.8, Pyramid Falls on the east side, a bridge over a river and a dirt road, with the line on the east side of a valley, the west end at MP 107.8 of the 8,030 ft. siding at Lempriere (MP 106.3), east end MP 106.3, where the river turns away northwest, Intermediate Signals at MP 101.2, the start of two tracks at Clemina West (MP 99.8), a bridge over a river, speed limit 40 mph, resumption of single track at Clemina East (MP 96.3), where the line turns north-northwest, a road alongside to the west, a road bridge overhead, a detector at MP 96.0, the west end at MP 92.0 of the 6,030 ft. siding on the east/south side at Albreda (MP 91.5), east end MP 90.6, the west end at MP 83.4 of the 6,190 ft. siding on the west/north at Cande River (MP 82.6), where the line turns north-northeast, a bridge over a river far below, a road bridge overhead, the line along the west side of a valley, speed limit 40-50, a grade crossing, a detector at MP 75.1, a siding on the west/north side at Valemount (MP 74.5), where the line turns north with speed limit 60-65, Von Zuben (MP 73.3), where two tracks begin, and Charles (MP 71.6), where the Robson subdivision continues north and the main line (Albreda subdivision) turns north-northeast.

Eastbound VIA train 2 and Rocky Mountaineer train 104 from Vancouver use CN's Albreda subdivision (27.9 miles) while their westbound equivalents use CN's Robson subdivision (29.8 miles). However, the 20.2 mile section of the Robson subdivision between Taverna and Redpass is also usedóin both directionsóby VIA and RM trains between Jasper and the Prince George line. The single track Robson subdivision continues north from Charles (MP 29.8), with speed limit 45 mph, passing irrigated dry fields on the valley floor below, with mountains surrounding them, a bridge over a road far below (MP 28.9) Lubin (MP 28.1), where a connector trails in from the east, from the Albreda subdivision at Spicer, and two tracks start, Intermediate Signals at MP 26.1, a dirt road grade crossing, a detector at MP 25.0 ("Robson 25"), a road to the east side, a grade crossing, Peterson (MP 24.6), a road alongside to the west, a dirt road grade crossing, and McCabe (MP 22.7), where two tracks end, and the line turns northeast, climbing steeply (which may be why it's used by westbound/descending trains), while a connector to the Tete Jaune subdivision continues north. At Taverna (MP 20.2), the Tete Jaune [yellow head] subdivision trails in from the west, coming up from a lower level than the Robson sub. and on the north side of a road at this point, and the Robson sub. turns just north of east, past a bridge over a stream down the mountainside to the south, through a 332 ft. tunnel at MP 19.6, and then southeast past MP 19, Intermediate Signals at MP 17.x, a siding or former yard on the south side at Swift Water (MP 14.7), where there are signals, slide detector fence on the south side at MP 12.17 (645 ft.), a bridge over a stream, slide detector fence on the south side at MP 11.89 (800 ft.), a detector at "Robson 11", slide detector fences on the south side at 10.12 (40 ft.) and 9.82 (65 ft.), all on the south side of the valley, up on a ledge, with Mount Robson across the avlley to the northeast, a bridge over a stream at MP 8.3, a bridge over a stream, Intermediate Signals at MP 6.7, MP 3, a river alongside to the north, a through truss bridge over a stream, Intermediate Signals at MP 2.3, a bridge over a stream at MP 2.1, and extra track on the north side for the last mile or so to rejoin the Albreda subdivision at Redpass (MP 0.0).

On the single track Albreda subdivision, there is a connector across from the Robson subdivision, forming the north leg of a wye, at Spicer (MP 70.6), where the line turns northeast, a 6,060 ft. siding at Jackman (MP 65.5), where the line turns east-northeast, a 6,750 ft. siding at Morey (MP 57.3), a 2,280 ft. slide fence at MP 55.34, a detector at MP 55.2, a 361 ft. snowshed at MP 54.9, a 400 ft. slide fence at MP 54.06, a 130 ft. slide fence at MP 53.28, a 430 ft. slide fence at MP 52.96, the 6,180 ft. siding at Foster (MP 49.6), a 1,670 ft. tunnel at MP 48.0, and Redpass (MP 43.7), where the Robson subdivision trails in from the northwest and the line turns southeast, becoming two tracks at this point.
