Melville to Portage la Prairie

The Yorkton sub. heads away north at Melville (MP 280.3), where single track resumes. Two tracks begin again at Cana Junction (MP 279.1), and end at Cana (MP 272.1), whence the line continues east-southeast, single track, CTC, past the 6,280 ft. siding at Waldron (MP 266.4), a detector at MP 264.4, the 6,280 ft. siding at Bangor (MP 258.3), the 6,270 ft. siding at Atwater (MP 252.8), the 6,500 ft. siding at Zenata (MP 245.1), a detector at MP 242.3, the 6.590 ft. siding at Yarbo (MP 239.0), the west connection with the IMC Spur at MP 238.5, Code (MP 237.2), the east connection with the IMC Spur at MP 235.9), the 6,300 ft. siding at Cutarm (MP 234.9), where the line turns southeast, the 6,270 ft. siding at Spy Hill (MP 225.8), a detector at MP 222.8, Welby (MP 218.6), where two tracks begin and the line turns east-southeast, Latimer (MP 209.5), where single track resumes, the line passes into Manitoba and turns east to Rocanville (MP 207.6), where a spur leaves to the west-southwest and the line turns south-southeast, following the course of the Quapelle River.

There is a 3,540 ft. siding at St. Lazare (MP 204.0), a 6,470 ft. siding at Wattsview (MP 198.9), a detector at MP 196.0, Uno (MP 186.9), where the line turns east, Miniota (MP 180.1), where double track starts and it turns east-southeast, detectors at MP 177.0, Steinberg (MP 168.9), where single track resumes, the 6,280 ft. siding on the south side at Oakner (MP 159.4), with a dirt road grade crossing within the siding, extra tack on the south side, a dirt road grade crossing, a detector at MP 156.5, three dirt road grade crossings, the 6,270 ft. siding at Myra (MP 149.2), two dirt road grade crossings, a grade crossing, the 8,900 ft. siding on the north side, with two silos on the south side, at Rivers (MP 143.2, three extra tracks and a depot on the north side), a grade crossing within the siding, east end at MP 142.7, a high bridge over a road and river, an embankment, MP 142, a road bridge overhead, three dirt road grade crossings, the 6,270 ft. siding on the south side at Levine (MP 137.6), a dirt road grade crossing, a bridge over a dirt road, Intermediate Signals, a dirt road grade crossing, a dirt track grade crossing, a grade crossing, three dirt road grade crossings, the 6,470 ft. siding on the north side at Knox (MP 130.2), with a dirt road grade crossing within the siding, east end at MP 128.9, where the line turns east, a bridge over a road, and the depot on te south side at Brandon North (MP 128.2).

Each siding has, naturally, signals at each end, including dwarf signals governing exit from the "siding", and all have a "station sign" against the main track, most having an additional short track, connected at both ends, opposite the station sign. In each direction, there are "advance" signals (Intermediate Signals) about two miles before the beginning of the siding. These descriptions, in July, 2006, generally only capture the east-facing Intermediate Signals. In the prairies, there are dirt roads about every mile, with paved roads less frequent.
