Portage la Prairie to Winnipeg

From the geographic center of North America, Portage La Prairie (MP 55.3), which has a brick depot and platform on the south side, and a platform between the tracks, with the CP depot visible to the north, the line heads east-southeast past a grade crossing, MP 55, CP yard tracks away to the north, and three extra tracks on the north side, trailing in before East Tower (MP 54.1), past a dirt track grade crossing, a grade crossing, Intermediate Signals, a dirt road grade crossing, a road bridge overhead, two dirt rack grade crossings, MP 52, three dirt track grade crossings, signals at Nattress (MP 50.4) on the west side of the river,  where the two tracks reduce to single track across the through girder bridge over the Assiniboine River, signals at MP 50.3, on the east bank of the river, where two tracks begin again, and the line turns east at MP 49, a dirt track grade crossing, a dirt road grade crossing, MP 48, a dirt track grade crossing, Intermediate Signals at MP 46.9, detectors at MP 45.9 ("Rivers 45"), a dirt road grade crossing, a grade crossing at MP 45.84, a grade crossing, a dirt road grade crossing, MP 44, Intermediate Signals at MP 43.x, a dirt road grade crossing, a grade crossing, silos and extra track on the south side, MP 41, two dirt track grade crossings, Intermediate Signals at MP 38.x, a dirt track grade crossing, detectors at "Rivers 35", and extra track on the north side, storing many hopper cars.

The line continues past MP 33.4, where three tracks once began (the third track was in the center, but the track connection and signals have been removed at both ends), West Elie (MP 33.2), a dirt track grade crossing, East Elie (MP 31.9), where the erstwhile three tracks once reduced to the still-extant two, a dirt road grade crossing, a spur heading away to silos on the north side, a dirt road grade crossing, Intermediate Signals at MP 28.3, MP 28, a dirt road grade crossing, MP 27, a dirt track grade crossing, a dirt road grade crossing, a dirt track grade crossing, Intermediate Signals at MP 21.9, detectors at MP 20.4 ("Rivers 20"), two dirt track grade crossings, a dirt road grade crossing, crossovers at Diamond (MP 14.3), where the CP Glenboro sub. crosses at grade, MP 14, two grade crossings, detectors at "Rivers 10", a road bridge overhead, MP 10, two grade crossings, Carman Junction (MP 8.3), where the Carman sub. trails in from the southwest, a road alongside to the south, two dirt road grade crossings, , fields along both sides (still), two grade crossings, the flat crossing with the CP La Riviere sub. at St. James Junction (MP 4.8), where connectors trail in from the north and south, a bridge over a flood channel, crossovers at MP 4.7, a grade crossing, a bridge over a divided street, crossovers at Portage Junction (MP 2.6), where the Letelier sub. heads south at a wye and the main line turns north, with a yard on the west side, across the through truss bridge over the Assiniboine River, a bridge over a divided street, a signal bridge overhead, a street alongside to the west, a bridge over a divided north-south street, as the line curves following the west bank of the Red River, a bridge or viaduct south of the station, and a bridge over a street, to the passenger station at Winnipeg (MP 0.0), on the west bank of the Red River, where freight track bypass the overall trainshed on the east side, there are four tracks serving an island and two side platforms in the trainshed, and the depot on the west side of the trainshed, which comprises abutting umbrella sheds in much the same fashion as those at C&NW station in Chicago.
