In the late 1960s, a connection was built from the B&O line east to the B&O Toledo line, so that the southern part of the latter, on the north side of Spring Grove Avenue and making at-grade crossings with all the main streets to the northwest part of the city, could be closed.
From 2006, CSX and NS have operated the trackage between Winton Place and Hamilton on a paired track basis, CSX northbound and NS southbound.
