A large fraction of the Sunset Route traffic between California and El Paso takes the “Cotton Rock” line at this point, and another smaller fraction takes the former Texas & Pacific at Sierra Blanca, leaving the former Texas & New Orleans (SP in Texas) to San Antonio with much less traffic than the line west of El Paso has to deal with.
